B & G's #43 5/17/08...Indians Lose Walk Off Style

B & G's #43 5/17/08

Cleveland Indians (22-20) At Cincinnati Reds (19-23)
At Great American Ballpark in Cincinnait, Ohio
Saturday May 17Th, 2008

Fausto Carmona (4-1, 2.40) Vs Aaron Harang (2-5, 3.32)
Final Score: Cincinnati 4, Cleveland 2
W- Bill Bray (1-0)
L- Masahide Kobayashi (2-1)

Baseballs:

**Adam Dunn- Left a 2-1 pitch up in the zone and Adam tattooed it to Kentucky for his 9Th Home Run of the season. He is hitting .211 on the season and has 25 RBIs.

**Aaron Harang- He proved today that he is the new "Bulldog", 7 sharp innings, gave up 1 run (1 earned), walked 1 and struck out 5. Aaron only has 2 wins, yet his ERA is 3.12. Today, he received a no decision.

**Brandon Phillips- We can't get him out, and when we do, he makes very loud outs. Just missed being a hero in the 8Th inning. He did go 2-4 at the plate, including driving in his 22Nd RBI and is up to .294 on the year.

**Bill Bray- Gave up the walk to Grady, but otherwise got out of the inning unharmed. He won his 1st game of the year and now has a 4.26 ERA.

**Jerry Hairston, Jr- He went 1-3 at the plate, but he was also a pest on the bases. He stole his 4Th base of the season, and he also got hit by a pitch twice. Once at the plate, and the other time when he was almost gunned down, Peralta hit his head and he was safe. Jerry is hitting .347 on the season.

**Fausto Carmona- Did enough to win the game, but it's the usual story, no run support. 7 1/3 innings, 1 run (1 earned), 0 walks, 4 strikeouts. The 0 walks is very impressive. Fausto now has a 2.25 ERA.

**Ben Francisco- Benny had a breakout game, he went 3-4 at the plate, including hitting his 1st Home Run of the year, he has 6 RBIs. Ben is hitting .375 on the year and now he has 1 stolen base. What a game, and I hope Eric keeps playing him.

**Grady Sizemore- Grady had a great day at the plate, 2-4, with a walk. He stole 2 bases, which gives him 9 Sb's this season. He is also up to .268.

**Ryan Garko- Ryan had a good day at the plate, 204 with 1 RBI, giving him 19 on the season. He is up to .235 on the season.

**Rafael Perez- Came in and got Ken Griffey, Jr. out. Rafael now has a 3.44 ERA.

Goofballs:

**Masahide Kobayashi- Not a good day at the office for the Japanese pitcher, he lasted 1 /3 of an inning, gave up 3 runs (3 earned), extending his season ERA to 3.20. Not sure if this was his fault though the blow that hurt us was the hits batsman, going to first by Edward Encancarion. But maybe we should give him one more chance this week.

**Ryan Garko- Committed his 3rd error of the season.

**Jhonny Peralta- 2 errors for him, giving him 5 on the season.

**David Weathers- Gave up the Home Run to Francisco, at the team was about to take the loss for the team. He has a 4.50 ERA this season.

On Deck:

Well, this is disappointing. Another game we should have won, had the chances, but couldn't capitalize. It's frustrating to see Dunn hot the walk off and that guarantees the Indians will not sweep this series. But they can salvage a victory tomorrow afternoon. Starting at 1:15 PM, starting at 12:30 PM with Indians On Deck. The game will air on WKYC-TV 3. Cliff Lee (6-0, 0.67) he will take on Edinson Volquez ( 6-1, 1.12). The two best pitchers starting off against one another and it should be interesting. The radio will air the game on 100.7-FM WMMS because the Cavs play the Celtics later on in the afternoon, by going one on one with the Boston Celtics, starting at 3:30 PM and airing on ABC and WTAM 1100-AM on the radio. Go Cavs. Go Tribe. Rise Up and root on the Cavs and Indians. Let's have a double win for once.

B & G's #42 5/16/08...Walks Were Wild For Lewis...Tribe Loses

B & G's #42 5/16/08

Cleveland Indians (22-19) At Cincinnati Reds (18-23)
At Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio
Friday May 16Th, 2008

Jeremy Sowers (0-0, 5.06) Vs Johnny Cueto (2-4, 5.91)
Final Score: Cincinnati 4, Cleveland 3
W- David Weathers (1-2)
L- Jensen Lewis (0-2)
S- Francisco Cordero (8)

Baseballs:

**Adam Dunn- Drove in the winning run with a walk, he also hit a Home Run earlier in the game, his 8Th of the season. Dunn is hitting .210 after a 1-3 evening.

**Brandon Phillips- I still think he has a chip in his shoulder over what happened with the Indians a few years ago cause he lit us up again. What was worst, was he was showing off by flipping his bat after a 2 run shot in the 1st inning, his 8Th of the year. Giving Brandon 21 RBIs and a .288 average. I just think we need to brush him back and show him we have been the playoffs and he hasn't.

**Ryan Freel- 2-4 for the team's CF tonight. He is hitting .315 on the season.

**Johnny Cueto- Threw very well tonight, 6 innings, he did give up 3 Home Runs in the 6Th inning, 3 runs (3 earned), walked 2 and struck out 7. Johnny gets the no decision tonight, and now has a 5.75 ERA.

**David Weathers- Threw a shutout inning in the 8Th, and won the game, his 1st of the season. David lowered his ERA down to 4.15.

**Francisco Cordero- Struck out the side in the 9Th for his 8Th save of the season. He now has 2.45 ERA.

**Jared Burton & Jeremy Affeldt- Both got the 3 outs in the 7Th inning.

**Casey Blake- Casey was the only player to have 2 hits, a 2-4 evening, including his 3rd Home Run of the season. Casey is at .229 on the season.

**Travis Hafner- Pinch hit and finally got a Home Run, his 4Th of the season, and now has 19 RBIs. He should start in tomorrow's game at 1st base. Especially against the veteran Harang.

**Jhonny Peralta- 1-4 for Jhonny, but did connect with his 8Th Home Run of the season. I know he strikes out quite a bit, but right now he might be our only solution at number 2 hitter. He is hitting .222 on the season.

**Jeremy Sowers- He didn't start off well, but he settled down and threw 3 straight shutout innings. His overall numbers was 5 innings, 3 runs (3 earned), walked 2 and struck out 2. Jeremy will be sent back down to Buffalo, but with the two spot starts he has given us chances to win. He has a 5.23 ERA, he also walked in his only plate appearance.

**Jorge Julio- Pitched a shutout 6Th inning, he now has a 3.14 ERA.

**Rafael Perez- Raffy threw very well tonight, going 1 1/3 innings, did not give up a run, struck out 2. Perez lowered his ERA to 3.50.

Goofballs:

**Jensen Lewis- To say Jensen was wild, is certainly an understatement. He walked 3 men in 2/3 of an inning, including walking in the winning run. Jensen now has a 3.13 ERA.

**Indians Offense- 3 runs, 5 hits, walked 3 times and struck out 12 times. Including the Reds bullpen had a combined 5 strikeouts. Down the stretch, they could not adjust.

**Joey Votto- Committed 2 errors, and now has 5 on the season already.

On Deck:

Well, the Indians lost, and so it figures, the Cavs win. It's amazing how the two Cleveland teams cannot win on the same evening since the playoffs started for the Cavs. Let's hope Sunday breaks that string. But let's get to tomorrow's game, it will air on FOX, starting at 3:55 PM. Fausto Carmona (4-1, 2.40) will take the mound for the Indians. Aaron Harang (2-5, 3.32) will start for the Reds, even though with his poor season so far he can still shut down any team. So hopefully the Tribe's offense finds a way to get to him. Minnesota won, so we are leading them by just 1/2 game in the AL Central. Game 7 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals will take place Sunday afternoon at 3:30 PM. So let's Rise up and cheer both the Indians and Cavaliers. Get this done.

B & G's #41 5/15/08....Scoreless Streak End But Laffey Still Is Amazing...Kobayashi To Save The Day

B & G's #41 5/15/08

Oakland Athletics (23-18) At Cleveland Indians (21-19)
At Progressive Field in Cleveland, Ohio
Thursday May 15Th, 2008

Greg Smith (2-2, 3.00) Vs Aaron Laffey (1-2, 1.83)
Final Score: Cleveland 4, Oakland 2
W- Aaron Laffey (2-2)
L- Greg Smith (2-3)
S- Masahide Kobayashi (2)

Baseballs:

**Aaron Laffey- Well, the scoreless innings streak ends at 44 1/3, but Laffey was still fantastic. 7 strong innings, 1 run (0 earned), he walked 1 and struck out 6. Aaron now has a 1.35 ERA. He has been fantastic, yet he will be sent down when Jake Westbrook comes back, but you know it's good to have depth in the starting rotation.

**Jhonny Peralta- Jhonny went 2-3 at the plate with a walk, including hitting his 7Th Home Run of the season. Jhonny also stole his 2Nd base of the season too, and is hitting .221 on the season. Jhonny also scored 3 runs, so maybe he should hit in the 2 spot?

**Ben Francisco- Benny had a 3-4 afternoon and is hitting .344 on the season.

**Travis Hafner- Pronk went 1-2 with 2 walks. He drove in his 19Th RBI of the season in the 1st inning. Travis is still getting a better approach at the plate, he even stole a base, his 1st of the season.

**Ryan Garko- A nice series for Garko, 2 homers and today, he went 1-4, including driving in his 18Th RBI of the season. Garko is hitting .234 on the year.

**Andy Marte- A rare start today, and he had a hit, going 1-4 at the plate. Marte is up to .115 on the season.

**Masahide Kobayashi- Came in a tough situation, score 4-1 in the top of the 9Th inning, one out, bases loaded. Masahide did allow an inherited runner score on a wild pitch, but settled down and struck out 2 hitters for his 2Nd save of the season. Now Masahide should be the closer until Joe Bo comes back. He has a 1.86 ERA.

**Jensen Lewis- Pitched a solid 8Th inning, throwing a scoreless inning, picking up his 3rd hold of the season and now has a 2.82 ERA.

**Eric Wedge- Made the move without hesitation of putting in Masahide Kobayashi, with the game still tight. I hope he makes the move permanent and insert Kobayashi to be the closer until Borowski comes back from his injury.

**Frank Thomas- Big Hurt had a good day, going 2-3 with a walk. He is hitting .222 on the season.

**Bobby Crosby- Bobby went 2-4 at the plate and is now up to .261 on the season.

**Joey Devine- Pitched 1 1/3 innings, did not give up a run, 0 walks and 3 strikeouts. He now has a 0.55 ERA.

**Chad Gaudin & Huston Street- Chad pitched a scoreless 7Th, Street pitched a scoreless 8Th. Chad has a 3.46 ERA and Street has a 3.63 ERA.

Goofballs:

**Greg Smith- Was okay going in, but the Indians finally figured him out. His overall numbers were 4 2/3 innings, 3 runs (3 earned), walked 3 and struck out 7. Greg has a 3.26 now.

**Daric Barton & Donnie Murphy- Each struck out 3 times this afternoon. Daric went 0-4, and is hitting .224 on the season. Murphy is hitting .208 now after a 0-3 afternoon.

**Santiago Casilla- Threw one pitch, and it was a Home Run to Peralta. He has a 0.93 ERA.

**Grady Sizemore- Grady went 0-3 with a walk, and struck out 3 times. He is down to .268 this season.

**Rafael Betancourt- Raffy is struggling right now. He came into the 9Th inning, in a save situation, score 4-1. He gave up 2 hits and walked a runner. Eric Wedge, without hesitation put in Masahide to get the save. Betancourt did give up the run, and now has a 7.31 ERA.

On Deck:

Wow, our starters have been fantastic the past month. The Indians, winners of 8 of their last 10 and 6 of their last 7 are now standing in first place by themselves, leading the Minnesota Twins to 1 1/2 games and are heading to Cincinnati for a 3 game stand. Jeremy Sowers (0-0, 5.06) will make a spot start, due to the rain out this past week. He will be opposed by young phenom Johnny Cueto (2-4, 5.91). The game starts at 7:10 PM and will air on STO with Indians On deck starting at 6:30 PM. The game will be on the radio on WMMS 100.7-FM because the Cleveland Cavaliers will host the Boston Celtics in game 6 of the Eastern Conference Semi finals starting at 8:00 PM and will air on ESPN, along with airing on the radio on WTAM 1100-AM.
